Big River Running Company and Big River Race Management are proud to call the the annual Castlewood Cup, one of our own. The race is a true test of trail running with a 15k course that includes uphills, downhills, switchbacks and an infamous creek crossing. The course was designed by local trail running gurus Skip MacDowell and Blair Porter who have logged thousands of miles at Castlewood over the years. Castlewood State Park limits the number of participants allowed for the event. Capped at 500 participants, be sure to register early to secure your spot. Don’t say we didn’t warn you, the Cup has sold out 6 straight years!

The Macklind Mile is more than just getting outside...you can run fast or stroll slow...you can race to compete or move to complete. There will be music, food and activities following the short one mile course which makes it perfect for hanging out in the streets of South City St. Louis with other kids and kids-at-heart.
If this is your first time inquiring about the Macklind Mile, know this: it's a one mile distance that everyone can do regardless of running or walking, and the post-race party is just as important as the distance covered! You can come to run the downhill, one mile course to try and set a personal record, or you can walk it with your family pet - but either way you're partying at the finish line!

The Skippo began in 2009 as a 20k trail race in beautiful Castlewood State Park that featured two 10k loops on a fairly flat course except, of course, for the famous stairs! The race was named after local trail running legend Skip “Skippo” MacDowell who has dedicated countless volunteer hours maintaining the trails at Castlewood State Park. It was at Skip’s urging, wanting to involve as many runners as possible both beginner and seasoned, that we added two more options, the 10k and the 30k and make a weekend of the event with races both Saturday and Sunday. The Skippo now offers something for everyone and we hope you can join us in November!
